Download ReSkate from official GitHub Releases: PC requirements, 3-step install, Steam login, and first launch into skate. (as of v1.1.3).
How to Get ReSkate on PC: Official Download and Install
If you are wondering how to get ReSkate, here is the short answer: download the latest ReSkate-<version>.zip from the official GitHub Releases page, put ReSkateLauncher.exe next to your Steam copy of skate., and press PLAY. The launcher handles self-updates, game-file verification, and even fetching the game for you. This guide covers the full process as of v1.1.3 (October 6, 2026). ReSkate ships new versions every few days, so always re-check the Releases page for the newest tag before downloading.
Two identity notes up front: ReSkate is a third-party open-source mod platform, not an EA product, and this site is an independent unofficial fan site with no affiliation to EA, Full Circle, Dingo-Shenanigans, or Thunderstore. If you are new here, start with what ReSkate actually is and how it relates to skate. and Skate 4.

The Only Official Download Source
There is exactly one trustworthy download entrance: the GitHub Releases page of the official repository.
Official source: ReSkate Releases on the official ReSkate repository
Each release ships separate player and server packages. Grab the right one from this table:
| File | What it is | Who needs it |
|---|---|---|
ReSkate-<version>.zip |
Player package: ReSkateLauncher.exe plus ReSkate.dll |
Everyone who wants to play |
ReSkateServer-<version>.zip |
Headless dedicated server for Windows | Server hosts only |
ReSkateServer-Linux-<version>.tar.gz |
Native Linux dedicated server (as of v1.1.3; the older manual text saying .zip is outdated) |
Linux server hosts only |
If you only need to replace a single file, the project also publishes direct latest-download links for ReSkateLauncher.exe and ReSkate.dll under releases/latest/download/. Want to run a server instead of just playing? Follow the dedicated server setup guide after reading this page.
Never use mirror sites, repacked zips, or random Discord attachments. A similarly named site, reskate.wiki, is a third-party page and not the official source — the official download lives only on GitHub Releases. If your antivirus flags the download, read the ReSkate safety and ban guide before deciding anything.
Before You Install: Requirements
Check this table first. Everything below is the confirmed requirement set as of v1.1.3 (October 7, 2026).
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit |
| Game copy | Your own Steam copy of skate. The base game is free-to-play — just add it to your Steam library, no purchase needed |
| Disk space | About 14 GB free if the launcher has to fetch the game for you |
| Steam client | Installed, open, and logged in — required for multiplayer (see below) |
A note on piracy, stated plainly: ReSkate ships no game files of its own. Game data always comes through your own Steam account — the launcher downloads only the files you need after you sign in to Steam. You must bring a free Steam account and a legitimate install; this site does not explain or endorse any way around that.
Install in 3 Steps
The whole install is three moves. No installer wizard, no registry edits.
Step 1 — Download the player zip. Open the ReSkate Releases page, pick the newest version tag (v1.1.3 at the time of writing), and download ReSkate-1.1.3.zip. Unzip it anywhere temporary.
Step 2 — Put the launcher in place (two options). Option A: copy ReSkateLauncher.exe and ReSkate.dll into your skate. folder, sitting next to Skate.exe (in Steam: right-click skate. → Manage → Browse local files). Option B: drop them into an empty folder of your choice — the launcher will download the game itself (about 14 GB). Either layout works; pick whichever matches whether you already have skate. installed.
Step 3 — Run the launcher and press PLAY. Start ReSkateLauncher.exe. It updates itself first, then checks your game files, then asks you to sign in to Steam if anything is missing (phone-app QR scan, or username plus password plus Steam Guard). Once everything is verified, press PLAY. The community install walkthrough at skatemods.com shows the same flow with screenshots if you want a visual companion.
Keep the Steam client open and logged in before you press PLAY. Since v1.0.1 the launcher warns you if Steam is closed; without a Steam login the game still starts, but you enter as "Unknown Player" in pure offline mode with no multiplayer. Your saves stay local either way.
First Launch: What the Launcher Does Behind PLAY
Knowing the sequence helps when something looks stuck. Every launch follows the same order: self-update, then verification that your game files exactly match the pinned Steam build 25414733, then — only if files are missing or Steam has updated ahead — a Steam sign-in to fetch just the files you need, and finally PLAY. Downloads use a DepotDownloader-style mechanism, so you never re-download the full game when only a few files differ.
Two consequences follow from the pinned build. If EA updates skate. on Steam, your official install moves forward but the launcher puts the supported build back for ReSkate sessions. And if a mod was built for a different game build, the launcher skips it by name instead of merging it badly and crashing. As of this writing there has been no real build-break incident yet, because EA has not pushed a new Steam build since the project launched — the mechanism above is confirmed, but there is no failure case to document.
If the game crashes, grab logs\ReSkate.log from next to the launcher — that log is what every bug report needs. Crash uploads (a minidump plus that session log, never your Steam password or login name) can be turned off in Settings → Advanced or with the RESKATE_CRASH_REPORTING=0 environment variable. Anything that still fails after that belongs on the error troubleshooting collection.
After Install: First Keys and Where to Go Next
You are in the game. Three keys run everything, copied from the official Controls table (both the menu key and the console key can be rebound in the launcher Settings):
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Insert | Opens the ReSkate menu (mods, multiplayer, park editor, trainer pages) |
| ~ (tilde) | Opens the command console — type help to list every command |
| T | Multiplayer text chat |
Your character, progress, and parks save locally and stay isolated from the official servers, so experimenting cannot touch your live account data. From here, pick your path: install mods through Thunderstore, learn how offline mode and the Unknown Player state work, read the key bindings and console reference, or jump into lobbies, voice, and Throwdowns.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is skate. itself free? Do I need to buy anything to use ReSkate? Yes — skate. is a free-to-play game, and ReSkate itself is free and open-source. Your only requirements are a free Steam account and your own legitimate Steam install of the game.
Do I need Steam open to play? Only for multiplayer. With Steam open and logged in, PLAY joins you into lobbies and servers normally. With Steam closed, the game still launches as "Unknown Player" with progress saved locally but no multiplayer at all.
The launcher asks for my Steam login — is that safe? The sign-in exists for one purpose: downloading the pinned game build through official Steam channels (QR scan or username, password, and Steam Guard). The project states it never asks for your EA account. Standard caution still applies — type credentials only into the real Steam flow, never into a third-party form.
Will EA ban me for using ReSkate? As of October 7, 2026, EA has made no public statement about ReSkate. The established facts are that ReSkate sessions do not connect to EA servers and that tens of thousands of players (about 28.7K Discord members in the October 6 snapshot) are already using it. That is not a guarantee of anything — nobody can promise what EA will do. Read the full safety and ban guide for the sourced wording before you decide.
How big is the download? If the launcher must fetch the whole game into an empty folder, budget about 14 GB. If your Steam copy of skate. is already present and current, the launcher downloads only the files you are missing, which is much smaller.
